Time off to VOTE
11/02/26 - CWA Local 2222 Contractually, Verizon has to give up to 2hrs for employees to vote. Not all employees will get the time off. Polls are open from 6am til 7pm. The only way employees will receive time off to vote is if they cannot make it to the polls during those hours because of their schedules and where they live. The Suffolk County PBA mourns the tragic line-of-duty death of Deputy Sheriff Ryan Terpsma of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in Montana.
Deputy Terpsma was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance call in Eureka. A fellow responding officer was also wounded during the incident. The suspect was later apprehended following a pursuit. |

Huerta co-founded the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) with fellow activists Cesar Chavez and Gilbert Padilla, which would eventually become the United Farm Workers of America. The union's work led to the first farmworker union contracts in U.S. history. |
